Sorry you were offended. Perhaps there were too many triggers in the piece for you. Please be careful with the name calling. Labels like “professors like you” and “skeptics like you never did the impossible” may not be constructive.

I see myself as an extreme optimist, in fact, and arguing that we can still do the impossible instead of succumbing to a survivalist mentality that is quashing those of us who are still so hopeful about technology.

Again, though, I’m sorry for writing in a way that led you, at least, to get the opposite message. I’ll definitely review my writing for how this can happen. My guess it’s the underlying assumption (explained in some of my books) that corporate capitalism is premised on unbridled and impossible growth.
