This is the best articulation of the extractive economy I’ve seen from a presidential candidate. I tried to get some of this framework to Bernie Sander’s in the last cycle. I’ve found the easiest language for people to understand is that we need to move from an “extractive” economy to a “flow” economy.

Investors treat businesses the way the mob treats a restaurant: as a front for extraction. The business is not the beneficiary of the funding, but the medium through which funds are extracted.

So we went from an economy that serves enterprise, to enterprise serving an extractive economy.
