Well, I guess I was trying to "sell" the idea to Cheney and others of her ilk - that leaving the Republican party wouldn't render them powerless. No, I don't like the idea of them being able to block things. But I think it's okay for there to be people we don't agree with in Congress. I just want the opposition to be non-violent and respect basic principles of democratic law. As a starting place.

So I'm looking at the issues being legislated as secondary, right now, to the question of whether and how we prevent authoritarian rule in 8 months from now.
