Yes. And I realize that it's scary to do this. Not everyone can. And people of privilege are definitely in the best place to take the hard risks.

I do not mean to suggest that those who are at risk should place themselves in greater risk. I'm suggesting that "boycotting" states may not be the most effective path for the most privileged among us to take.

Dems can simply retreat to NY, CA, or Canada. Or, as you suggest, Dems can move strategically to swing states, win hearts and minds, and cast votes.

I think if a person has the ability to do service for others instead of retreating to absolute safety, they should at least consider the option.
