You may be right: the current system of employment and corporate corruption may be the best we can do. Or maybe it’s the best that can be done in America, and other countries simply have advantages we can’t aspire to. It may be too optimistic to try to reach even the middle of the pack of developed nations. I’m not being sarcastic. There’s a danger in trying to see beyond current limits. But I also remember the arguments made against ending slavery in the 1840’s, and they were similarly based in the problem of thousands of unemployed former slaves.
